Blossom and Root’s art program: Best choice for adaptable art curriculum

Art

For an inexpensive, flexible artist-based curriculum that expands a child's analysis skills and worldview, we recommend Blossom & Root's Artist Study curriculum. (Note that Blossom and Root also has a complete curriculum, but individual subjects that can be purchased separately and their art program is a favorite among families) Blossom and Root created this resource with the goal of creating a rich academic curriculum interspersed with learning about nature and the arts.. Blossom and Root's Artist Study is a flexible, easy-to-implement technique to expose a child to the arts, using units of 9 weeks each that serve to help students study and analyze with depth.. Blossom and Root spends 4 units of 9 weeks going over one artist in extreme detail, so that by the time a student has finished, even at a young age, they will be able to recognize works of that artist. Each weekly curriculum contains a portion of Artist Study, in which the student completes various projects at home that relate to the artist being studied. Blossom and Root's Artist Study is a great choice for artistically-minded students, as well as students that like to introspect and analyze. Parents love that it goes through projects and has students replicate some of the style of the artist instead of simply learning about him/her., Some families find Blossom and Root's art to be European-focused, and believe that it doesn't fully teach the child about diverse viewpoints and perspectives that the arts of different cultures can express. There also may be a slight disproportion between the background information about the artist and their influences, and the techniques and style of the artist., We strongly encourage parents to let their child "do their thing" during Blossom and Root's Artist Study, as it really is an exploratory course for the student to observe and analyze art. .
