Modular Education

Modular education is a new way of approaching your child’s learning. In traditional schooling, most of the education takes place in one location and through one institution, and is uniform for a group. In modular education, families pull together a mosaic of resources for their individual child’s education, drawing from a variety of different organizations and sources.  In modular learning, parents create a mosaic of activities and experiences for their child’s education, composed of five parts, 1:1 Mastery learning, group activities, unstructured time, community and support from a learning specialist.

1:1 Mastery Learning

1:1 teaching sessions allow your child to develop their skills at just the right level of challenge with lessons tailored to their unique learning style, and to use their learning time efficiently. You can teach these 1:1 mastery learning sessions (with support from modulo to help you do so) as a parent, or you can utilize a tutor to provide them. We can also connect you with mentors and subject experts for apprenticeships and private lessons.

Group classes & Activities

We all want our kids to be with other kids, in healthy and productive social environments. Drawing from our roster of programs, you’ll curate a unique set of group activities that align with your child’s interests and that give them lots of time working and playing with children or all ages. These programs can also provide childcare for your family.

Learning Community

Build relationships with a group of people based on a shared desire to raise happy, healthy, children who love learning. Meet for family field trips, park days, volunteering and social gatherings.

Self-Directed Education

Learning is limitless when children are free to follow their insatiable curiosity and desire to know “why” to its outer limits and beyond! Leaving lots of “empty space” for self-directed learning, free play and child-initiated projects is a key component of modular learning.

Support from a learning specialist

Parents looking for extra support and customization may choose to work with a learning specialist to help you create your child’s plan each semester, mentor you as parent-educator, and ensure your child is meeting educational milestones.
