Mathseeds

For an interactive and motivating way to improve math skills, we recommend Mathseeds for its ability to engage students and help them retain more information. Mathseeds is a rewards-based, math learning program that allows students to work at their own pace to learn a variety of math topics. Students can create avatars, customize pets, and receive certificates after completing levels. Blake eLearning is comprised of a highly specialized team that focuses mainly on innovating literacy and math educational resources for use around the world. Mathseeds is an app containing levels that students can go through (called maps); at the end of each map, there is a short quiz that checks the students progress and generates a progress report for parents and teachers to view. Students also earn "Golden Acorns" throughout the levels that can be redeemed to customize avatars or pets. Mathseeds is a good choice for students struggling with math skills. Parents love it because it is so engaging and provides both entertainment and education, allowing students to learn more effectively. Mathseeds is not suited for children above grade three or for especially gifted children because this program may feel too slow for them. Some parents, however, have reported that they are sometimes not able to get their children away from their devices because of this app. It also only works on iPads or tablets. We encourage parents to purchase a family plan or subscription in order to pair Mathseeds with other reading, literacy, and math apps.
