Magic Forest Academy

Nature based educational books that inspire a deep appreciation of nature through multiple subjects, intended to be used independently or as an inclusive full-year curriculum. This is nature-based curriculum with books designed for each season of the year, which include recipes, activities, readings, and hands-on projects. There is currently one 'stage' available, for children 7-12, with curriculum for older and younger students coming soon. This curriculum is designed to be a secular alternative to other nature-based programs, such as Waldorf, Charlotte Mason and Oak Meadow. It is intended to help students and teachers become more aware of, and in tune with, the natural world. Developed for school use, homeschools or 'unschoolers', the books have interdisciplinary and hands-on activities designed to align with each season of the year. Teachers or parents can choose activities and recipes that supplement existing curricula or stand on their own. 52 themed unit books on a wide variety of natural topics, like dragonflies, mountains, snakes, fossils and rain. Magic Forest Academy is a great resource for any parent who wants to engage learners in the the many wonders of the natural world and connect school subjects like math, art and biology to nature in all its forms. Students will learn about surface tension in lakes, the wingspan of birds, the symmetry of leaves, and how to cook 'cloud muffins'. Parents who expect highly structured sets of activities or practice sets that strategically increase in difficulty may not take to Magic Forest Academy's relaxed approach to curriculum design. Geometry, statistics and word problems all live side by side in the 'spring bundle', connected by their natural themes rather than their underlying concepts. Parents may want to start with a single book that matches a child's existing interests (like rocks and gems, stars, spiders or reptiles) and try out activities before build up to a seasonal bundle or a full-year curriculum. Subject agnostic activities (like recipes) can be done anytime, while others (such as ratios and percentages or moon phases) may benefit from alignment with outside curricula.

Grades: Ages 7-12 (13-17 and 3-6 coming soon)

Cost: Each seasonal unit book costs $42.95, or $171.80 total (Discounted for $120.00 for all four)
