Athena's Academy: Online classes for gifted & talented students

Geared toward gifted and talented students, online course offerings are webinar-style for students seeking to expand beyond the regular classroom. Like the Greek Goddess it is named for, Athena’s Academy has summer offerings that are for students who are curious, but also serious about learning and academics. Courses in Mock Trials, Academic and Creative Writing, Greek, or Physics, might not be found elsewhere. And for the explorers, there are courses like Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots or Cryptozoology. Athena’s Academy was developed through the founder’s doctoral dissertation in Educational Leadership related to online education for gifted and talented students. Parents and students register for courses as they would for any online school. Parents with children who are intellectually curious and enthusiastic learners will appreciate these classes. But, it’s likely that a student who is fairly self-directed would do best with Athena’s Academy. This would not be suited for students and families who like gamified learning or for children who need to be prodded to engage in learning. The really unique aspect is the Junior Presenter Seminar Series. Student created seminars about topics they are passionate about. Webinars recorded for others to view later.Gifted Gatherings and other social opportunities.
